rewatching pretty little liars: entry 02

the PLL rewatch continues! i'm on episode 4 of season 2 and i just have to say, i wish they dug more into this Ian storyline instead of ending it after the first 2 (ish) seasons. it was honestly way more compelling than some of the storylines that come after. yes, it was confusing and kind of weird a grown man would be so invested in a teenage girl's life, but it was way more interesting than some damn "ELLO SISTA" (getting ahead of myself here...)

one of my favorite things about rewatching this show is Toby's whole arc. like why was he acting like he committed 150 crimes and being the creepiest person alive when not only is he 100% innocent, but he's also one of the biggest victims in the entire show??? he was literally being abused by his step-sister and Alison made everyone in town think he's some weird pervert and lowkey destroyed his life... and the girls were shocked he got a tattoo celebrating Alison being gone? JUSTICE FOR TOBY!

as much as i despise Alison, i can't lie i do miss when she was this sort of ethereal being haunting the narrative. no hate to Sasha Pieterse, but bringing Alison back in the later seasons sort of killed the show for me (btw i didn't read the books so sorry if that's like a book accurate thing lol). when Alison shows up in the hospital after Hanna is hit by the car, it makes her out to be this sort if ghost in the girls' lives that keep them in this loop with A, and that is way more interesting to me than this whole family thing it turns out to be in the end.

another thing i kind of hate is this whole Aria's parents sneaking around thing. not only is it SO inconsequential to the entire story and does literally nothing for me, but i hate how they kind of make Ella out to be the bad guy in the situation for being the one to move out and then be unsure about getting back with Byron, WHEN HE'S THE ONE WHO CHEATED ON HER WITH HIS YOUNGER STUDENT WHO HE STILL WORKS WITH??? like i think that's so insane. but then again, what in this show isn't insane? so i guess it makes sense. btw, for a minute there during the storm episode Byron was considering going out with Hanna's mom, so like, let's not make Ella look like the one who's in the wrong. and the whole "Byron having to figure out being a single dad" thing? BOOHOO!

my favorite characters will always be Hanna, Lucas, and SOMETIMES Spencer, but the one person (besides Ezra...) who is the absolute bane of my existence is PAIGE. i love this show, but the second she shows up, i'm almost ready to call it quits. not only is her bob so insanely crisp to the point where it pisses me off, but her whole storyline with Emily is SO BAD i honestly can't even believe it left the writer's room. i'm currently pretending like she doesn't exist. Maya, i miss you...

i'm still going strong because we're really getting into some juicy drama right now. the first halloween episode is coming up soon and if you know anything about Pretty Little Liars, you know the halloween episodes are always THE BEST of every season. i'll return with more soon! 💋
